v13.7 - Happy Friday!!

Howdy Folks,

{slurp}

It's Friday!  I can't believe we are at the end of another week and also at the end of another month.  Wow!  Tomorrow morning it will be March 2008.

Where does the time go?

{slurp}

So I was driving around the city today and I can't believe a lot of these people were allowed to have drivers licenses.  Seriously folks, a Yield sign means YIELD and a merge sign means MERGE!!  It is NOT ok to yield at a merge lane and it's not OK to merge at a yield sign..  for the love of God!

{slurp}

Yeah, so as a result of the above, I had a few colorful metaphores spew from my lips.  One of which made me stop for a second as it was a word I hadn't used in quite awhile and had no idea what it really meant.  The word?  Jackass.

{slurp}

After several minutes searching the web for a meaning and origin, here is what I came up with.

The meaning of the word Jackass is a man who is a stupid incompetent fool.  Why is he a stupid incompetent fool?  Well, the data I found on this was a bit sketchy and spotty but I was able to piece together a very loose origin.  Basically, it is from the lat word asinus.  In the binomial nominclature, the species is Equus asinus (the genus is that of horses, the equine).  The idea behind hackass is a male ass.

{slurp}

So there you have it :)

{slurp}

Well folks, I realize the musing is a bit late today, but better late than never huh? :)  Until next time...

Cheers,
Al

v13.6 - Not Feeling Well

Afternoon Folks,

{slurp}

I'm home sick today.

{slurp}

While my sickness isn't your normal "stay at home in bed" kind of thing, I just didn't feel well this morning and therefore did not go to work.  Instead, I decided to spend the day with my lovely wife whom I hardly get to spend much time with any more.  She has the day off so it has been nice to stay home and relax with her.

{slurp}

We purchased a new case for her computer today.  If you suffer from "loud PC" syndrome, I suggest you run out to your nearest computer store and pick up (or have them order) a NZXT Hush case.  Not only does this thing look nice (and sleek) it made our Den an enjoyable place to go because you can hardly hear the computer running; which is a welcome change.

{slurp}

Well folks, we decided to do some house cleaning today here since we both have the day off and the kids are in school.  I must sign off, get some lunch and continue on with the day.  Until next time, sayonara ?????

v13.5 - Beyond the Slurp

Good Morning Folks,

{slurp}

Ahhh.  Today's musing is brought to you by the letter 'F' and an Extra Large Coffee from Tim Horton's.

{slurp}

I was reading over some of my older musings on the weekend and I must say I used to be a witty guy.  In fact, going over the old posts from years ago, it is hard to believe I actually wrote those things; it was almost like reading someone else's work.  I guess I've changed so much over the last few years that it really was a different person who wrote those things.  How sad.

{slurp}

Here we are on day 3 of the Roll up the Rim contest and I still haven't won a damn thing.  I'm starting to have Deja Vu of last year's Roll up the Rim contest.  I believe I didn't start winning until a week into the contest (which was a tad frustrating).  As mentioned before, my significant other works for Tim Horton's and she told me last night that the staff is warned during the Roll up the Rim seasons about angry customers.  Why angry you ask?  Well apparently, in the past, customers come into Tim Horton's around the 3rd or 4th day of the contest complaining that they haven't won anything.  They even go so far as to yell at the staff and blame them.  You see, some customers have this idea that all the Tim Horton's employees around the country are rolling up the rims and giving the customers the losing cups and keeping the winning cups to themselves.  If they only knew the contest rules and read the part about employees :)

{slurp}

Anyway, I keep getting side tracked here at work and I'm not able to fully dedicate my thought process to this musing today.  I need to pick times outside of working hours to write these so I don't get constantly distracted.  I guess it comes with the job when you're a Team Leader of a 7 man team and everyone needs something all the time.  More on this tomorrow and there have been some interesting developments which will hopefully make my time here a LOT more bearable.

Until then!

Cheers,
Al

v13.4 - All good things...

Good Morning Folks,

{slurp}

Been a LONG time.  I've decided to pick up the Musings where I left off many many months ago.  My last Musing over Coffee was titled "All good things.." so I thought it fitting to start of the v13.4 musing with the same title but this time instead of finishing it off with "... must come to an end", I think I'll start it off with "... should stick around because you can never get too much of a good thing" :).

{slurp}

I noticed the other day as I was getting ready to start my Roll up the Rim event, that I haven't updated this site hardly at all this year.  In fact, my previous update stated something about bringing back the Musing Mail-list (which still hasn't been updated yet) and then that was it.  First off, I'd like to apologize to my loyal readers and secondly I would like to confirm my promise I made yesterday that I will write every day (including weekends/holidays/etc) until the Roll up the Rim contest is done.  After that I can't say but I do plan on starting this up again and sticking to it.  God knows, people need to look forward to small things in life and this is one small thing in my life that I always looked forward to doing every day.  Why I stopped, I have no idea.

{slurp}

I wanted to post something fairly quick to reintroduce the Musing and update my Roll up the Rim stats (still no wins).  I need to run and get some work done so I'll sign off for now.  Don't forget to keep checking back for updates!  Maybe today I'll win the Car!

Cheers,
Al

Roll up the Rim - 2008

Good Morning Folks,

{slurp}

ahhh

I'm sure my hit volume may go up a bit today and I owe it all to my beloved Tim Horton's.  As some of you are aware I took part in the 2007 Roll up the Rim contest and recorded my winnings and losings along with the nutrition value of the coffee and my total intake for the months of the contest.  Well, I plan on taking part in the 2008 Roll up the Rim contest again this year and like last year, I plan on keeping a log of my winnings (or losings as was the case last year) so keep checking back daily for updates.  I also plan on keeping better records and totals as the contest progresses.  Rather than provide totals at the end of the contest, I'll update all totals as the days progress and ever time I drink a coffee (or shortly there after) I will record it so the site will be update constantly and daily (since I drink coffee almost every single day).

{slurp}

In addition to the drinking of coffee, I am making it a personal mission during the contest to post on this site every single day (yes, even weekends).  I don't know what I'm going to write about, but I'll find something :)  My posts may not come in the morning like you're used to, but they will come and they will happen every day.  I make that pledge to you now! :)

{slurp}

Return often to see the updates to the site.  I plan on updating the theme to make it look cleaner and easier to navigate.  Right now if you want to see the Roll up the Rim logs, you can view them through the Experiments link.  In there you will see a link to 2008 for the Roll up the Rim contest as well as the link for 2007 if you're interested in how things went last year.

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice :)

Cheers,
Al
